Sunday, 14.05.13. We went from Hannover to Berlin to spend some nights at 5-stars hotel. As we arrived in front of the hotel, there was Valet Parking staff  who open the door of the car for you, and bring the car to the parking place. Another staff bring our luggage to the reception and after we checked-in, few minutes later come our luggage, and the staff explain what facilities we got there and told us that the hotel was just open for few months.

Actually we would like try the afternoon tea at Romanisches cafe in hotel, but we didn’t have time, because we had tour around Berlin. So after we went back to Hotel around midnight, I decided to order Cafe Gourmand, it is coffee with some small pastries, this kind of thing very popular in France. So, the staff came to our room and put the tray on the table and explain what kind of pastries was that, there were 6 different kind of sweets. I really enjoyed my late ‘afternoon tea’.

Dinner in the dark at NOCTI VAGUS in Berlin – Germany

Nocti Vagus    nocti vagus Andreas

My husband had birthday on April, I didn’t have any idea what gift should I give to him. Cloths…no. Tie…he never use it. wallet…he has one, and never change it. ok, I decided to look at internet a perfect gift for man or for two .

On website  www.mydays.com  There were many options at that time, one of them is Dinner in the dark for two. It is restaurant located in Berlin-Germany. mmm interesting ! why not. so, I decided to book it. It costed €39 per person for 3-courses menu.

At D-Day, he was so happy about the gift, something new. That was 18pm, we arrived, there was waitress approached us, explain the story about the restaurant and gave us menu. we could decided what kind of menu that we will eat, but the was also “surprise menu” that means we don’t know what menu they will serve. But we have ordered the drinks. Both of us decided to select that. By the way Handphone is prohibitted, and also watches with lights.

The waitress had escort us down stair, there was a room (a little bit dark) and there was another door, which is the restaurant there, we should hand in hand to enter the room, it was soooooo dark, that you can’t see anything. So, there was waiter inside who escorted us on the table and seated us. My husband and I just laughed (no sound), and curious what will happen next. The waitress served the drinks, and the breads with garlic butter dip. we had difficulties to pour the water on the glass.  We heard also the voice from the guests on the other table. There were about 10 peoples at that time and maybe more at night.

After few minutes came the soup, tried to guess what that is…..at the end he told us that was chicken stock with quail egg. After he cleared up, we waited for the main course, after 10 minutes it wasn’t coming yet, and suddenly I got panic because of the darkness, so I decided to get out there with the help of the waiter to take some fresh air. After few minutes I told the waitress that I wanted to go inside again. So, main course was coming, that was Chicken with vegetables, I can’t describe more detail, that was good. And then dessert coming…it was ice cream with berries, delicious!

It took about 2 hours inside. At the end we realize that the staffs there are blind or half blind, they are all specially trained. Amazing! respect for all of them. For us it was unforgettable moment, and great experience.

Some tips from me: keep talking with your friend or partner, so you’re not got nervous inside (like me).

I suggest you to visit this restaurant  for someone who like challenge. Have fun!
